A few months ago, we shared our vision for a reimagined Xero homepage and our plans to move from the classic dashboard to a more insightful and actionable command centre for your business.
Since then, many of you have joined us on this journey. We have built this for you, with you – more than 33,000 customers have been part of one of our most extensive co-creation and beta programs ever, providing invaluable feedback as we’ve refined and tested this new experience.
Today, I’m thrilled to share the next big step: the new Xero homepage is ready, and we’ll be rolling it out to all our customers progressively over the course of the next several months.
The new homepage delivers on the vision we shared, giving you a quicker, more comprehensive view of your business performance by surfacing the insights and actions that matter most to you.
We designed the new homepage to help you quickly answer the most common and critical questions you have about your business, including:
1. Are we making a profit? Previously, this required running a report. Not anymore. We’re excited to introduce the new net profit or loss widget. It gives you a visual breakdown of your income and expenses for the time period of your choice, right on the homepage. It’s one of the most-requested features, and it’s here to help you monitor your profitability and see trends quickly and easily.
2. How much money is in the bank? The enhanced bank accounts widget gives you greater confidence in your numbers. It provides a crystal-clear view of your bank balances and shows your reconciliation status at a glance. You’ll know immediately if your Xero balance matches your bank balance, perfect for those daily checks.
3. How much money do I owe? On the other side of the ledger, the enhanced bills to pay widget provides clear visibility of what’s due and what’s overdue. Plus, you can now add new bills with a single click right from the widget, helping you manage your outgoing cash flow all in one place.
4. Can we afford to pay our bills? To see the bigger picture, the enhanced cash in and out widget gives you a six-month snapshot of your business performance. You can see the trends of money coming in and going out, and simply hover over any month for a more detailed breakdown.
5. How much money is owed to me? Managing cash flow is all about visibility. The enhanced invoices owed to you widget gives you a clear view of what’s outstanding.
6. Have I been paid? We’ve added a new recent invoice payments widget that shows you a list of payments at a glance, helping you quickly assess your incoming cash flow without needing to run a report.
“I like the recent invoices paid widget because we rely on meeting invoice milestones before we do certain work, and previously that information was a lot harder to find. Now it’s really quick – I can see it at a glance, so it’s a lot more streamlined and means we’re moving faster and getting projects completed more quickly.” – Melissa Neighbour, Director and Principal Planner, Sky Planning
Beyond these new insights, we’ve focused on giving you more control over how you see your information.
“I set my homepage up to have the three things on the top that I care about the most – our primary business account, bills to pay, and invoices. It’s way more conducive to my regular daily workflow. I glance at the things I need to do the moment that I log in.” – Scott Hand, Founder, Urban Artifact
We know that any change to a tool you use every day can be an adjustment. That’s why we’re committed to making this rollout a smooth, manageable transition, giving you the time and tools to get comfortable.
The new homepage rollout to all customers is beginning today, and will roll out gradually until March 2026.
This is a gradual rollout on an organisation-by-organisation basis. This means you may see the new homepage in one of your Xero organisations but still see the classic dashboard in another. If you’re an accountant or bookkeeper, you and your clients will be moved over organisation by organisation, so all users of a single org will have the same experience.
Most importantly, you can choose when to get familiar with the new value
We know it takes time to build new muscle memory. When your organisation is updated, you’ll temporarily have the ability to switch back to the classic dashboard for 24 hours at a time.
This ‘safety net’ is designed to ensure that if you’re in a hurry and need to find something fast, you can revert to the view you know well. The new homepage will refresh each day, giving you the opportunity to get comfortable with it in your own time, at your own pace. This ability to switch back will be available for a few weeks, then the new homepage will become the permanent, default experience.
We know many of you will be excited to get your hands on the new homepage. We’ll email you a few days before your organisation is set to get access to the new experience.
And, if you’d like to start getting familiar with the changes now, you can try out all the new features risk-free in the Demo Company.
We are really proud of the new homepage and the foundation it sets for a more intuitive and insightful Xero. We believe it will give you more confidence and control over your business, helping you make smarter, faster decisions.
