Latest product news – July 2020
The past few months have been challenging and taught us a lot about collaborating in remote environments. We know we do our best work when we stay #human and connected to customers and partners, so we’re proud to bring you these new features as we discover new ways to work together and strive to make Xero simple, seamless and smart.

New features
Send your bills to Xero via email – global
You can now send bills to a Xero file via email, and it will automatically create and populate a bill for you. The document will be stored with the bill as an attachment, and you can send other documents to the Xero file using that same email address. This functionality is available to all customers on a starter, standard or premium plan (early, growing and established plans in the US). Hubdoc is a more comprehensive solution for higher volumes of receipts and bills.
Create beautiful reports – global
We’ve added an ‘export to PDF’ button in the layout editor of all new reports in Xero, so you can see what your financials will look like and make any necessary tweaks before publishing. This will save you time and make sure every report you create looks beautiful.
Maintain best practice security – global
To continue delivering best practice security standards, we’ve introduced a new login screen for customers using WorkflowMax, Xero Practice Manager and Xero Tax. It’s part of a Xero-wide project to move from existing technology to a new security platform called Identity. Over the coming months, we’ll be migrating all customers with business edition plans to the new platform.
Find the right app in the marketplace – global
We’re excited to unveil new search functionality in our app marketplace that gives you a more personalised experience. It also makes it easy to find the best apps for your needs. Powered by Coveo, the search engine taps into machine learning to serve up app suggestions based on your small business’ profile when you’re logged into Xero.
Enjoy a consistent experience across Xero – global
The navigation bars in My Xero and Xero Practice Manager will have a new look and feel in mid July, so you can enjoy a seamless and consistent experience when using any of our tools on the Xero platform. The menu, help and other icons will be in the same location, while the colour and underlying technology will be changed to be more accessible.
Save time with chart of accounts templates in Xero HQ – UK
Xero partners can save time setting up new clients, with our new chart of accounts templates in Xero HQ. Templates are available for UK limited companies, sole traders and partnerships. Each template is pre-mapped to Xero report codes and available as a non-VAT option.
Enjoy greater speed and accuracy of CIS in Xero – UK
If you’re in the UK construction industry and use the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), Xero can help reduce your administrative burden and paperwork. We’ve made some improvements, which mean you can now run a CIS audit report for ease of checking and greater insight into monthly return numbers. You can also verify subcontractors from within Xero, and calculate CIS deductions automatically when sending invoices using the Xero accounting app and desktop.
Prepare and manage GST/HST returns with ease – Canada
We’ve made some enhancements to GST/HST returns for Canadian subscribers. This includes a new settings button on the dashboard that allows you to set the start date of your first return (provided you haven’t finalised any returns). You can also get Xero to automatically deal with any prior period adjustments, as well as print the return to PDF and export a list of all transactions in that return.
