Get started with the basics
If you’re new to Xero, welcome! Our informative small business education guides were created specifically for you. These guides cover common business challenges that small businesses face and solutions that may help.
For example, if you’re moving from another accounting system, read Move your business to Xero for tips on bringing your financial information with you. If you want to know how best to set up your business correctly in Xero, check out the guide for Getting ready to use Xero.
Or if you’re struggling with late payment fees, our guide Track your bills and pay them on time takes you through Xero’s features that may help you better manage bills and avoid late payment fees and a bad credit rating.
You can also find guides on Getting your invoices paid faster, Staying on top of your cash flow, Reconciling bank accounts easily in Xero, Creating professional invoices with ease and Creating quotes to win new business, with more topics to come.
You may prefer to learn how to set up your small business in Xero through interactive webinars. These regular events are hosted by our Xero education team (many of whom are former teachers, tutors and accountants) and you can register for them on Xero Central.
We hear from our customers that the ‘Set up your small business in Xero’ webinar helps them understand the basics in an interesting and engaging way.
Upskill with ease
Once you know how to set up your small business for success in Xero, it’s time to upskill.
You may like to learn about core bookkeeping jobs, from data entry to bank reconciliation, reporting and tax preparation. The course Create an efficient workflow for your business will teach you these tasks and how they will help you with running your business.
Be sure to also sign up for Education Month, a virtual event that runs across the globe. You can attend webinars and hear from the Xero team, get tips and tricks to make the most of Xero, and other diverse topics ranging from wellbeing to thought leadership.
Gain your expert level status
If you’re comfortable using Xero and are looking for a challenge, I recommend you gain your Xero certification.
Xero certification is a learning experience that helps you become more proficient and confident with Xero’s core features. You can choose to gain Xero advisor certification, Xero Payroll certification – or both!
You can complete certification through an online course. Once you’re certified you’ll be able to download a certification to display on social media or your office to prove that when you say you’re a Xero expert, you mean it!
Our small business customers tell us completing Xero certification is an important part of their personal professional development. It teaches them how to get the most out of Xero, and is an important certification to add to their resume.
After completing your certification, head to Xero Central to explore our other education courses to help ensure you’re continuing to get the most out of Xero.
