How your ideas from the Xerocon Laundromat are shaping the future of Xero

Xerocon Brisbane 2025 was a fantastic few days of connection and inspiration. While the keynotes were happening on the mainstage, some of the most important conversations were taking place at a new space we launched this year: ‘The Laundromat’.

No, we weren’t washing clothes. We called it The Laundromat because it was a place for candid, ‘clean slate’ conversations about what you need from Xero.

We often talk about building products for you, but this was an opportunity to build them with you, getting direct feedback from the people who use Xero every day.

Building Xero with you

The Laundromat was our first-ever, purpose-built user experience lab at a Xerocon. It was an interactive hub where our product managers, designers, and engineers stepped out from behind their screens to connect with people one-on-one.

Through hands-on workshops, in-depth interviews, and quick-fire feedback sessions, we explored the topics that matter most.

What we heard

The energy and ideas from our partners were fantastic. They didn’t hold back, and that’s exactly what we hoped for. Together, we sketched out concepts and explored big questions, including:

  • the future of AI: We heard your excitement (and your valid concerns) about how AI can practically save you time and empower your expertise, moving beyond the hype to find real-world value
  • a more personal Xero: We explored what your ideal Xero homepage looks like. What information do you need front-and-centre the moment you log in? The ideas for customisation and clarity were excellent
  • the future of collaboration: We explored ways to make client collaboration seamless and connected by improving communication through smarter, more integrated tools.

These conversations are vital. They help us ensure that as we innovate, we’re focusing on building beautiful, intuitive tools that genuinely maximise your time and expand what’s possible for you and your clients.

A fantastic response

We were blown away by the enthusiasm to get involved. Over the two days:

  • we had detailed conversations and one-on-one interviews with more than 200 people
  • we received 485 unique pieces of feedback on new and future concepts
  • our 78 workshop attendees gave the sessions a 100% satisfaction score

Most importantly, this wasn’t just a listening exercise. The insights that were shared are already being analysed and delivered directly to the product teams working on these specific features. The conversations at The Laundromat are having a direct impact on what we build next.

Your voice still matters

The conversations at Xerocon were just the beginning. We want to keep this momentum going all year round.

If you weren’t at Xerocon, or if you were and you’re fired up to share more, the best way to make your voice heard is by joining our Customer Research Panel.

It’s your opportunity to get early previews of new features, provide direct feedback to our design and product teams, and help us build the Xero you need.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by The Laundromat to share your expertise with us. We can’t wait to show you what we build together.
