Late last week the UK team took part in Accountex at Olympia in London, the UK’s first proper accounting exhibition for years.
With over 3,000 accountants in attendance, it was a great opportunity for us to be one of a hundred companies exhibiting and telling our story.
On the first day of the event Gary Turner took to the Technology Theatre to speak about Profiting as a Connected Practice, a topic that was obviously attractive to the attendees at the event, so much so, that there was not a seat to be had while he was speaking. In fact, it was great to see so many of the theatres packed to bursting, the attendees at Accountex clearly wanting as much information as possible.
The Xero booth was also very busy throughout the 2 day exhibition, with hourly demos pulling in the crowds and keeping the booth staff busy with questions and queries. It was the first large show I had attended for Xero, only having been with the company five months, and it was so exciting to have so many people come to find us who started their conversations on a really positive note. It was flattering to be approached by a number of businesses and accounting firms who were already using Xero, a common refain over the two days was ‘Don’t worry, you don’t have to convince me as we’re already customers and would love to give you a testimonial any time!”
Over the course of the event we conducted an informal survey and asked visitors to our booth what they felt would be the biggest challenges to their business or practices in 2013. The overwhelming response from the 250+ people who visited us was around tightly managing their budgets & keeping fees competitive.
It was great to be involved in a well attended event for accountants and also a boost to hear a good few speakers name checking Xero in their talks and sending people to talk to us. Indeed, it was an honour to finally meet in person Paul Dunn, a big Xero advocate, who according to Gary Turner practically ordered one accountant to visit the Xero stand to find out more about us.
