Messaging added to online invoices
While the team are hard at work finishing off our next major release (which is shaping up nicely), today we’ve added a couple of updates to online invoicing.
Your customers are able to send you a message directly from any online invoice – you’ll receive an email containing the message but, more importantly, the message will also be recorded in the History & Notes section of the invoice (and contact) in Xero. Now the record of your conversation with customers can be kept alongside the document it relates to – making it easy to recall in the future if you ever need to.

This is a another step towards realizing the power of online invoices where the invoice is more than a static document. It’s an opportunity to communicate with your customers in ways that weren’t possible before – over the next few releases we’ll be adding more functionality like this. Stay tuned.
The other update is for people viewing an online invoice from their smartphone. Now it will display in a more mobile friendly way – simple, not too cluttered and giving your customers quick access to key information.

If you accept payments by Paypal, your customers will see the ‘Pay Now’ option, otherwise they’ll simply see the amount owing, due date and a link to view the full invoice.

Hi Andrew, Is this optional? Which email address does it choose to send the customers comments to? Is there a settings page?
Help managing communication channels with customers may be good – but adding new ones feels really random. (Especially after the comments a few weeks ago!)
It would be better to be able to properly manage the main one we have from Xero now. Will the ‘from’ email address for invoices be editable in the forthcoming ‘template’ update?
Along the lines of recording info in the history of the invoice. Why doesn’t Xero record each time the invoice is sent. IE if i send the invoice 3-4 times it should record each time is was sent. That way i can go back to the customer and say look i’ve sent it too you 4 times already – hurry up and pay the dam thing
The most unbelievable thing is Xero themselves do not use online invoices, yet promote them to as a feature!!!! So, I must import it manually.
Does Xero not have confidence in their own features, that they don’t use them?
Maybe they’re too busy implementing useless features like this, rather than implementing the good features properly….
Andrew I would like to see the invoice messages integrated with WiseStamp ? and possibly retain a standard message. However this is an interesting feature thanks.
btw md other accounting solutions do not use there own products to invoice consultants.
I really like the online invoicing and I’m looking forward to more development of this feature. As we use WFM for invoicing and quoting I would so love to see more of these features built in to WFM! If my clients could open a quote, select the options they would like to choose and then ‘accept’ my quote dynamically this would kick the process off so much more quickly.
