Filters & super in Australian payroll update
Our product roadmap for Payroll in Xero is gaining momentum in Australia. Today we’ve released a couple of new features that make it easier to manage employees and their pay runs.
Bringing on a new staff member just before pay day and getting all their info to pay them can be a challenge. Now, if you don’t have their superannuation details it’s no problem, just add these in later and any historical pay runs will be updated. Even better, if you’re setup with automatic superannuation payments the accrued funds can be paid over when the super provider details are added.

The new filters in the Employees screen also make it easier to view active and ex-staff separately. If you work in an industry with high staff turnover this will make pay day much more pleasant.

One of the biggest requests we’ve had is for employee timesheets. These are well underway and will be released soon. Here’s a sneak peek in the meantime:

Just gets better and better!!
We’ve love if timesheets could be logged against a quote, but obviously that starts to get into Project Management territory. WorkflowMax integration perhaps :p
Well done Xero – if we could get WorkflowMax timesheets feeding into Xero timesheets (for employees who are paid by the hour rather than on salary), it would be a huge timesaver. Currently, for employees paid by the hour, its a pain having to manually move the data from WFM to Xero. **pretty pretty please?**
I have been looking forward to the release of “time sheets” in Xero, but it looks like initially it still won’t do what I have been used to in MyOB. Is there any likelihood that Xero will be able to record employee hours against a job and an”activity”?
Looks great, certainly a few clients will be using the timesheets when finalised. Any word on the payroll report redesign to Xero style? ESPECIALLY the option to STAR/FAVOURITE the payroll reports? Having to go into reports, and then click on the payroll activity report is a pain, when I can favourite my other majorly used reports!?!

This is a great start but we’ll really need time billing and tracking against projects, tasks and budgets for it to be much use for us. It would be great if it could update the timesheets from Freshbooks in the interim…
