ABUKAI – expense reports in a snap

So what is ABUKAI?
ABUKAI takes the pain out of creating expense claims. Data is entered from the receipts and categorized automatically. This can happen on the move too using ABUKAI mobile apps (for iPhone, Android and Blackberry).
Who is it for?
Anyone who wants to cut down the time it takes to code receipts and create an expense claim – whether you’re a sole trader on the move or you are managing a team on the road.
How ABUKAI works with Xero
Take a photo of your receipts and when ready, the expense data is automatically imported into Xero as an expense claim. A copy of the photo is attached to each receipt.
Where you can use ABUKAI
Available around the world with pricing in US dollars. The company is headquartered in San Francisco (not far from the Xero USA team).

No price on their website that I can see. I guess I’m not in the target market, but there are certainly a lot of people that would be put off by this lack of transparency.

Is there any plans to have a similar process for Credit Card Receipts?
It’s pretty expensive. Their competitor ProOnGo, which back ends to Quickbooks, is a fraction of the price. Xero can I recommend you set up a relationship with ProOnGo?
Will the person submitting a receipt using Abukai have the facilities to code there receipt entry? And will this appear in Xero as an Expense Claim submission or is this more for use on bank account transactions (Cheques, Eftpos & Credit Cards).
You say that it is a simple as taking aphoto of the receipt – how does xero know who the reciept is from, what to put in the refence and what expense account to put it against? Does each supplier need to be set up first?
Xero’s iphone app already offers to import invoices with a photo. What does the fairly costly AKUBAI offer above what Xero already does?
Does ABUKAI/Xero allow for the expense to then be rebilled to a client automatically?
Dear Xero
The best app in this space is http://www.expensify.com. Which is free for smaller users.
I would heartily recommend you contact them and see if you can work something out together.

I signed up for the free (10 receipts or less per month) plan and cannot get past the setup page. I click the button for Xero but nothing seems to happen except a dialog box comes up asking to enter the portal URL but nowhere to enter it. Glad I’m not paying.
@Ben Thanks for trying out ABUKAI. We offer unlimited reads/scans for $99. We also offer a free account, which allows for 120 reads as well (12 reports with 10 recognition scans each). Not expensive at all. Contact us at press.services@abukai.com, we’d love to answer your questions about ABUKAI.
does ABUKAI work with Australian Dollars??
@Chris We had a problem with the Xero setup earlier this week. It should work now. Could you try it again? Also feel free to contact service@abukai.com if you have questions.
@Mary ABUKAI works with any currency.
@Simon The expense reports from ABUKAI will appear as draft expense claims in Xero. You can then continue to use them in Xero.
@Shane Expensify actually costs $0.20 per receipt scan (beyond 10 scans) in addition to $60/year/expense submitter as soon as you have more than two people submitting expenses. And the scans provide only date, merchant and amount and a fixed category. While ABUKAI can generate over 30 attributes per receipt including location, VAT, the category based on your chart of account in Xero, etc. If you have any specific feedback, please contact us at service@abukai.com.
@Rob ABUKAI scans the information on the receipts like vendor, amount, city, state, country and categorizes the receipts automatically among many other things.
