Payroll update
We’re making great progress with the integration of full payroll into Xero for our Australian customers. All going to plan we’re hoping to launch this in late April. Yay!
As part of the transition we’ll also be including Paycycle in your Xero subscription from 01 March. For a small number of customers who currently use both Xero and Paycycle, an upgrade to another Xero pricing plan may be needed.
This is because each Xero plan will allow for a different number of payroll employees, and on the Large plan you also get automated super payments.

The good news is that even if you need to upgrade, most customers will pay less than when you subscribed to each application separately.
Shortly we’ll be contacting everyone who uses both Xero and Paycycle to explain exactly what the changes will mean for you and next steps.
If you’re an accountant or bookkeeper and keen to see a preview of the integrated Payroll, be sure to register for our nationwide roadshow.
Or if you’re keen to try Paycycle in the lead up to it becoming integrated Payroll in Xero go here.
Not long now!

I hope this makes it to NZ one day
This is very exciting. Cant wait for it to be fully integrated
Agreed I hope we see this NZ. Im kind of surprised to see the aussie version progressing faster than the original nz one?
The payroll looked great at the Newcastle Roadshow. Really looking forward to getting in an using it.
Hi,
Are National Bank feeds down as none of yesterdays transactions have shown up?
Thanks
Can’t wait to see something like Paycycle on the go here in NZ. I have eager clients wanting the simplicity of an accounting/payroll all rolled into one – plus the added ease of reconciling and coding all those wage lines!!!!! I would have several immediate sign ups!!!!
Woo Hoo!!!
Hey,
I’m using both, but with different email addresses, will I still get notified?
Hi @Andrew and @Jamie, as mentioned before we have no plans to do Payroll in NZ. We have a simple PayRun feature in the NZ version of Xero and a number of specialist Payroll partners that integrate with Xero http://www.xero.com/accounting-software/payroll
Cheers
Rod
Not very encouraging to hear that you not planning an integrated payroll in NZ, integrated partners just don’t cut it! Sorry.
I’m with @Steve. What’s the logic behind that decision?
Im with Steve and Rosemary, if it can be done in Aussie why not NZ?
@Rod, Completely with @Zane, @Rosemary and @Steve would hugely benefit from having a full payroll as part of Xero in NZ.
It’s a bit sad to see NZ customers getting the shaft here. I know the logic – protecting your partner relationships etc, but keep in mind that this is at the expense of your NZ consumers.
I fear that not bringing this sort of integrated payroll to NZ users is the start of Xero abandoning NZ users and focusing more on delivering a better product for users in countries that have a larger potential customer base eg Australia & USA.
I fully agree with these posts, i think if Xero seriously want accounting firms to move all their clients onto Xero so we can be “modern practices” then there should be a bit more focus from them into finishing off the NZ product. Obviously It has great potential. Add ons are all well and good but I feel Xero dont understand how much harder it is telling people they need three separate subscriptions to have an accounting system that does payroll and inventory. The current pay run feature is a waste of time and just a hassle to have to tell our clients “no, it isnt what you think”. Im sure the time spent on developing that might have been better spent on something useful like budgeting against tracking codes which i hope isnt far away.
Stuart,
Thanks for the update, our customers will be extremely happy to see this .
As for the bad sentiments, NZ has always had choices as Xero’s ecosystem and new addons spawn in NZ (or have done historically). You guys always get the best stuff (i.e. Tax included in Workflow Max) first. As somewhat of an early adopter, it was a massive struggle early on and we made it!
My suggestion… Why not focus on the fact that Xero is going forward and we’re ahead of the global pack! It is a global market. Embrace it!
Cheers.

This is exciting news! Will the Paycycle API still be available or will the Xero API be extended to include the integrated payroll?
We’d love to integrate our HR software with Xero for our growing Australian customer base.
The reason Australia got an integrated payroll is simple. MYOB SME product has had an integrated payroll for as long as I can remember. Any new kid on the block (i.e. Xero) who wants to take a bite out of the MYOB market share needs to have a integrated payroll to even be looked at as a conversion option, you are never going to move to a product with fewer features/modules. MYOB SME has never had an integrated payroll in NZ, it has always been an add-on. While NZ xero users may feel “shafted” Xero have simply rightly or wrongly extended the status quo.
Cheers
Dave
This is great news and so many of my clients will love getting their invoices next month getting the same great products cheaper! Xero is becoming more and more marketable to small business.
Any feature overview for April release? I really wish tracking can be integrated in pay runs.
Would like to change from Cash Manager Online to Xero as I am sure many other rural clients would, but lack of “Paycycle feature” only deterrent.
So jealous for Australian people:( Hope in the future it will include Global user such as in Malaysia.
