1000+ more bank feeds
Today we’ve released automated bank feeds for another 1,000 more banks across the globe. We’ve spent the last few months adding support for this next wave of banks and in doing so have taken a step closer to supporting banks that use multi-factor authentication (MFA) for internet banking.
We now have bank feeds for some of the most popular banks in the USA including Bank of America, HSBC and Wachovia, and in the UK, Citibank and Smile, along with many other banks. Some of these banks require security questions as part of the sign-in process and this latest release enables feeds with many of the banks that use this method of authentication.
For those of you waiting for banks that use full MFA (e.g. security tokens, security images and more complex security questions) we are looking to launch support for these in July. This should include Barclays and Lloyds TSB Business in the UK, Wells Fargo in the US and TD Bank in Canada. These are just a few of the banks in what will be more than 1,500 new MFA feeds, so there’s a very good chance that your bank will be available soon.
The best test of whether you’re able to receive feeds is to sign into your Xero account and give it a go. If you sign into Xero and you now have a green ‘Get Bank Feeds’ button next to your bank account, you’re on your way.
Xero still allows you to upload bank statements manually so you can still get started in the lead up to automated feeds being activated.

Offshore UK (Jersey etc) do not seem to work for any feeds I have tried. They use the same security as the UK sites, but you log onto offshore specific versions of the bank websites. Is it possible to get feeds from the offshore ones given the security is the same – eg. Natwest UK – https://www.nwolb.com and Natwest Offshore – https://www.onlinebanking.natwestoffshore.com
What about Bank of Ireland UK? This was previously supposed to be supported but after investigation with Xero it was only Bank of Ireland personal. BOI Business uses certificates to authenticate. Does this mean that it will finally be supported in July?
+1 for NatWest/RBS offshore (Isle of Man in my case) which we normally access via the RBS “EQ” system.
Have tried all the NatWest options with no luck.
Just noticed that NatWest UK Bankline is now working though – not sure how I missed that but thanks!
I assume Suncorp (AUS) will be included in the MFA release in July? This will be great news for us, as a majority of our clients use Suncorp for their business banking, and they all use security tokens. Cheers.
Vote for a small bank…1st Bank of Colorado (a.k.a. Denver and a few other Colorado cities).
Will all of the main Canadian banks be coming in July? RBC, TD, BMO, CIBC ?
I notice that HSBC UK have started rolling out full MFA – Will they be part of the July update, or will their automated feeds stop working at some point in the future?
Incredibly exciting! Looking forward to the July release!
Please support one of the big bank in Switzerland: UBS or Crédit Suisse. Alternative will be Cantonal Banks (they all share the same subsystem) and post finance.
Your product will be a real success here, no alternative, ebanking of Switzerland banks is disappointing, money move, lot of small entreprise and startup…
Any update on Irish Business Bank Accounts for AIB, BOI and Ulster Bank. They cater for over 90% of the market here but so far its only personal banking that works.
Is the following US bank available?: Vanguard NOTE: We have another bank in the US called Vanguard, but the one at the link I provided is the one I’m looking for. Thanks!
Is the following bank available for feeds?: Vanguard Please note, we have more then one financial institution in the US named “Vanguard”, I’m looking for the I provided the link to. Thanks!
Sorry Alastair, I didn’t see your response and accidentally sent the same question twice… No, the link you provided is not for Vanguard I was referring to. The one I’m referring to can be found at Vanguard dot com
Any chance we’ll see support for South Africa, banking and tax? There is a big need for personal finance platform here.
Hi Alastair,
I have been trying to Integrate Kotak Mahindra Bank(India)…which has multi-factor authentication. First Level is username and password. Level 2 is Access Code which is sent via an email or mobile. There are no issues at Level 1. Post clearance of Level 1 i get an option to authorize. When I click to enter the Access code the website goes into heavy processing (into a limbo state) and I am unable to actually even get a chance to enter the Access code.
Its been only a day since I have used your product and I know all accounting. It seems I have reached the right product finally. I have already integrated one bank account successfully. I wish to integrate my second bank account and I am sure I shall be able to get a billing plan approved if the above problem gets resolved. I have tested so many products and none match your standards. Kindly please resolve the above issue at the earliest.
Cheers
Sagun
Hi,
Any indication as to when the bank feeds will be activated in the Middle East region, specifically United Arab Emirates? It will be great if this could be introduced this year.
Hi Alastair,
I’m very happy to hear that you’ve got bank feeds working for the big 4 SA banks. That’s excellent news. I’d also like to recommend that you add Capitec Bank in South Africa to that list. They should be very willing to assist.
Hi What is the feeds situation with Swiss banks, especially the cantonal banks? Thanks.
Will the Ulster Bank business banking feeds be working soon
and the Bank of Ireland one
Still no MBNA (for business) credit card in the UK – I do hope this is added soon!!
Hi guys, I’ve followed your instructions in the original post above and can’t see an auto feed for Westpac (Australia) accounts into Xero Personal? Any news here? It’s a showstopper for me. Thanks.
When this month, do you expect the feeds to TD Bank Canada to be made active and available?
I think it would be a good idea to publish a list of all supported banks somewhere, rather than a “try in xero and see” solution. For example, I want to sign up for Xero Personal (and have a bunch of friends who are interested as well), but will only do so if all our banks are supported. (the bank I am unsure about is La Caixa – Spanish bank – i don’t want to have to go through the entire signup process, get an account etc. to eventually find out it isn’t supported). Assumedly you have an internal list of all supported banks, or alternatively, can make API calls to your various feed providers to output a full list of currently supported banks….
Any update on AIB (Ireland) Business Accounts?
Is there any news on the July Barclays update?
On May 26, Alastair Grigg said, “RBC, TD, BMO and CIBC are all due to become available when we release support for MFA in July”.
Is this still on track?
It looks like xero’s good name is being damaged by relying on a third party that seems to keep missing their promised deadlines.
I hope that this is soon resolved
I want the address of Xero agents in India
Where can we see a list of all available banks?
When the user above (Jon) mentioned Jersey he meant Jersey in the channel islands not US. The feed does not work for my accounts at Natwest Jersey – is there a plan to remediate this?
Just to add to Dennis’s request. We could really do with Irish AIB internet *business* banking (IBB) support which is a two-factor authentication job. AIB are so painful. No export in any of the recognised formats. It’s a manual Excel hack job every time.
Try this AIB format converter:
http://www.domybooks.ie/2011/06/tool-to-convert-aib-csv-file-for-xero-importation/
We have an AIB account so will be getting round to trying this tool soon
Any one have BVI or Carribean account feeds coming through…???
@Alaistar, any update on Ulster Bank (Ireland) Business A/c feeds? As part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group one would imagine that you are dealing with this format in the UK already. Many thanks. PS. AIB and Bank of Ireland feeds would also be great, if Xero had this compatibility it would be an easy sell to my clients!
@Sean – Yodlee has business banking agents for Allied Irish Banking (UK) and Ulster Bank (UK) sites, but have yet to launch beta agents for the equivalent Irish banking sites. We have again asked that they progress releasing beta agents for these Ireland sites as a priority.
Thanks for the reply @matt. Seeing as the Irish version of Ulster Banks Bankline is almost identical to the UK version I hope that this can go live pretty soon. I note that this blog started in May 11 so it’s disappointing that there is not a single Irish business bank account that is compatable. Auto bank feeds is the killer feature of Xero and I feel that your competitors are gaining massive market share the longer this draggs on (Sage One for example). We all know that once a business has made a switch to a new accounting software it’s very hard to get them to switch again. If Xero had Irish Auto bank feeds it would easily be the “best in class” . Thanks, Sean
Is there a Bank Feed from Uniting Financial Services (UFS) see http://www.unitingfinancial.com.au ??
Thank you
Is there a Bank Feed from The Anglican Church Glebe Income Accounts – http://www.glebegroup.com.au/GIA/giahome.htm?
Thanks
@Jeanette Sorry, neither of those feeds are currently supported.
For anyone else wondering which feeds are supported and which aren’t, our Help Center has instructions on how to determine whether or not a feed is supported by Yodlee.
What can be done to get these banks on the list. The UFS is a registered bank – full bank audits etc. Has 1.5billion under management. And thousands of user accounts. I know this is a smallish number – but over 500 hundred accounts are NFP organisations that I think would fit the Xero target customer
@Jeanette If you want to see a bank supported that isn’t currently supported, you can do a few things:
- Contact customer care and let them know which banks you’re after.
- Create bank accounts within your paying organisation with these banks as the bank names for those accounts. We use this to help us decide which feeds to pursue next. The more paying customers that want a particular feed, the higher that feed is prioritised.
However, the best thing to do is to contact the bank in question and let them know that you’d like them to integrate with Xero directly and to get in touch with us. If a bank agrees to provide us with a feed, it’s a fairly simple process for us to set this up.
Thank you – will do!!
One of my clients asked me to evaluate your software and everything looks good except for one point. Can you tell me definitively if there is or will be a Bank of Ireland feed solution. We cannot go ahead without it.
@Billy – Hi Billy – if you’re in the Republic of Ireland and using Bank of Ireland personal banking (365 Online), the feeds should work. However, if you’re using Bank of Ireland business banking (Business Online), Yodlee’s advice to us is that they are unable to support these accounts at this time.
If you’re trying to setup Business Online accounts, you have a few options available to you:
- You can ask the bank to make the accounts available through 365 Online
- You could import transactions manually
- You could contact the bank and request that they talk to us about supplying data to us directly
I hope that helps.
would it not be more time efficient to add a ‘universal’ middleware layer that could be configured by XERO customers themselves. Dunno, maybe I am not seeing the complexity of these connections. Just thought I would mention the obvious.
5 June 2011 “Hi Matthew, Bank feeds are available now in Xero Business from ABSA, First National Bank (ZA), Nedbank and Standard Bank, with Investec Bank coming online once we release support for MFA. Automated feeds from these banks will also be available when we extend our Yodlee integration to the Xero Personal app, which is something we are planning for later this year. Are there other major banks that you would like to see available?”
I have a few questions with regard to the above: (i) Have you extended the Yodlee integration to Xero Personal? (ii) If not, by when do you expect to do so?
I also have two additional questions (i) When will Xero Personal be able to handle multiple currencies? (ii) Do you plan to add any Mauritian based banks to Yodlee and Xero, and if so, by when? I would expect that there would be a strong demand for your services in the offshore banking sector. Mauritian banks such as HSBC (Mauritius), Mauritius Commercial Bank, AfrAsia Bank etc should be considered.
I look forward to your reply.
Please support Switzerland. It’s the banking country after all. Don’t wait for enough Swiss customers, it will not happen. Offer the feature first and the customers will flow in. Thanks.
Hi @Shane – Yodlee has been extended to Xero Personal. It’s available right now.
There are no current plans to add multi-currency to Xero Personal but that’s not to say it won’t happen in future. You can vote for multi-currency in our Personal Community. https://community.xero.com/personal/
If there’s a bank you’d like to see supported (such as a bank in Switzerland or Mauritius) you should contact bankfeedhelp@xero.com – we can pass the request on to Yodlee. However they prioritise these requests according to their own development schedule and needs, so we can’t give any guarantees around when support might be added. The more requests we get – the more likely the feed will be added.
Just wondering if we are any closer to having Irish bank feeds for AIB Business customers? Live feeds for Ulster Bank have been available for a few months now, would be good to see more progress on this…outside of NZ, Aus, USA, & UK Ireland must rank pretty high in terms of Xero users but with only 1 bank having life feeds in this country I feel we deserve better. Thanks.
I’m also interested to see if there has been any update on whether Xero is compatible with Bank of Ireland business banking? I’m very frustrated by their crazy system so want to do all my banking through Xero. Can you advise on whether this is possible?
Thanks.
Any word if RBC (Canada) is on the horizon?
