The worm is turning in Oz
About a year ago having just joined the Xero team I attended one of our roadshows for Australian accountants and bookkeepers. I remember getting questions like “Never heard of your company before?” and “Is my data secure online?”. As I’m based in Customer Care helping with online queries (yeah I’m one of those nice people who emails you back), I haven’t had much of a chance to attend other Xero events. Then last Friday I was asked to look after the Xero stand at the Institute of Chartered Accountants Conference in Sydney. It’s an important event for the industry with all our major competitors there to show and tell. A year on, the comments have definitely changed… “I have been hearing good things about Xero” and “You guys are really the future”.
These comments were all within an earshot of our competitors. I have never been one to get involved in competitor rivalry. My focus in Customer Care is support, but after my experience on Friday I thought it worth noting that times really are changing. Last week we saw Apple become the largest IT company in the world, much to the dismay of its competitors. A few years ago most would have thought this was impossible. After years of complacency by other accounting software providers, Xero is leading the revolution in online accounting and the world is watching. To those playing catch up ‘good luck’ because you are going to need it!

Once you add payroll we will be on board. Congratulations on the positive feedback.
Your article about complacentcy seems to leave you sounding mighty complacent.
Not the most professional closing sentence I’ve ever read.
Brad and Paul thanks for the feedback – we always take the good and the bad. As you probably know we’ve got a open blogging policy at Xero and enthusiastic team. In this instance the sentiment expressed is not our usual style. Good lesson for us all.
Cheers
Rod
@Sheds we have a number of payroll solutions that integrate with Xero, so there should be one for every need! Check them out here: http://www.xero.com/advisors/solutions/payroll/
@Sheds, we’d be more than happy to help you out with your payroll needs at Paycycle. Give our 30 day free trial a go at http://www.paycycle.com.au. It’s only $19 a month for 5 employees or less. We were built from the ground up to integrate with Xero, so hopefully everything is to your liking!
Be gentle Rod – I think we all admire the loyalty to the cause.
Hm, isn’t paycycle going to show up on the payroll integrations page with the rest?
Tim, Paycycle is in the Directory. Make sure your country is set to Australia.

We are really happy with Xero and the way it changes the way that accountants deliver their service.
Hi Charbel
The times are certainly changing and Xero is leading the revolution – keep up the great work
