HI Rod, You blogged in October about my tweet and believe it or not that was only my second tweet on twitter! Sooo whats happened since….tweeting and replying to tweets has scored two new clients and established some great dialogue including this one…it works.
Timely article, well done Rod. Good to see this kind of information finally targeting the governance level.
[...] Social Media Primer for Directors, on blog.xero.com [...]

Nice post and useful starter for those overwhelmed by the options. For 2-3 years I’ve found LinkedIn fairly useful as a way of opening up new channels, such as law firms, other Xero partners etc. Twitter has been a revelation more recently – I avoided this for some time as unnecessary clutter – but by following a small group of interesting people and orgs I now feel like I have the challenging dialogue and idea exchange that can be missing in the daily rush from gig to gig.
If like me you are a Director of multiple entities and/or an adviser to others – the simple truth is that if you don’t get into the social media loop you will be missing out on opportunities, news and interesting dialogue.
