Xero is officially ICAEW Accredited

Xero has earned the mighty tick of accreditation from the ICAEW accounting authority (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales). The ICAEW is a significant organisation with 120k+ members working in 162 countries worldwide

The accreditation involved a strict independent assessment process carried out by qualified accountants who are accounting software experts. We had to thoroughly demonstrate how our online software does things in new and different ways, compared to traditional desktop software.

Gaining ICAEW accreditation shows that we take the technical side of our application very seriously, and it validates that Xero online accounting software is as feature rich as traditional software packages.

This is an important milestone for us and we’re really proud of this accomplishment.

* The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales has accredited Xero under the terms of the ICAEW Accreditation Scheme.  Purchasers should ensure that the software, its security features and related support meet their own specific requirements, as the Institute will not be liable for any damage whatsoever, incurred by any person, occasioned by the use of the software, or any related products or services howsoever caused.

Can I just add to my above post:

You say “Xero is the only MAC and PC-capable online accounting software to receive ICAEW accreditation”.

According to the ICAEW website http://www.icaew.com/index.cfm?route=129364 there is at least one other online accounting software package that is ICAEW accredited.

Emily, thanks for correcting us. You’re absolutely right, we were mistaken.

We knew there were other online accounting systems with accreditation but understood that they only worked in IE on Windows only. Which is the case, except there is one other accredited system that works like Xero - online using any browser on both Mac and PC. I’ve updated the post and removed that statement.

Hi Philip,

I hadn’t realised that not all online accounting systems work on MAC as well as PC - that’s what several of them use as a big selling point because desktop packages usually only work on one or the other.
